This service is not available to citizens of the EUROPEAN UNION.

EU citizens must consult the office where there card was issued to find out about the status of their application.

INFORMATION BY TEXT MESSAGE (SMS)

You can obtain information on the status of your application by SMS by sending a message to:

Cost of the service: No Additional Cost.

In addition to providing the status of your application, the automated system will also remind you that the information you have just received is for purposes of information only: "Datos de carácter informativo".

INSTRUCTIONS ON CHECKING THE STATUS OF YOUR APPLICATION VIA SMS

Using your NIE (Foreigner’s Identification Number)

Send a message with the word NIE followed by a space followed by your Foreigner’s Identification number – do not include any other information – to 638 44 41 44.

Your Foreigner’s Identification Number has the following format:

It begins by an uppercase X, Y or Z.
It has 8 digits: if yours has less than 8 digits, put zeros before the digits.
It ends in an uppercase letter.

Example1: NIE X00000111L
Example2: NIE Y00000123K

Using your application number:

Send a message with the word EXPE followed by a blank space followed by the application number – do not include any other information – to 638 44 41 44.

Example1: EXPE 280020101234567
Example2: EXPE 070120101111111

The application number will have exactly 15 characters. If you do not enter the correct number of characters, you will receive an error message in response.
